What does song analysis do, and why didn't my song get analysed?
Pro, included in PITTO ProSong analysis fills in a song's tempo, key, mood, genre and lyrics, so you can find it in search and match it to briefs. It costs 1 credit per song and needs an internet connection.
When it runs: automatically only if you chose Analyze new songs automatically. PITTO asks once, during setup or the first time you open it on Pro, and you can change it any time under Settings → Audio analysis. With it on, a song is analysed when you add it, unless you switch off Analyze for that upload. Otherwise nothing is analysed until you open a song and click Analyze (or Re-analyze). Songs that moved over when you upgraded from PITTO Free are never analysed automatically.
If a song wasn't analysed:
- Automatic analysis is off, which is the default until you choose: click Analyze on the song, or switch it on under Settings → Audio analysis.
- "Not enough credits": buy credits (see How do credits work).
- "Couldn't reach PITTO's server": check your internet connection and try again.
- "PITTO's analysis service is busy": try again in a minute.
- "This song's audio file couldn't be found on this Mac": check that your audio folder is in place (see Where does PITTO keep my audio).
- "This song's MP3 is over 25 MB, which is too large to analyse": songs up to about 10 minutes fit. The size counts for the MP3 that PITTO plays, not your original WAV. No credit is used.
- "Only MP3 files can be analysed": PITTO turns WAV, FLAC and AIFF files into a 320 kbps MP3 automatically, so those are fine. M4A and AAC files can be added and played, but not analysed. Replace the song's audio with an MP3 or WAV file, then try again. No credit is used.
- "Analysis didn't finish": click Retry. When it says "Nothing was charged", no credit was used.
